NEO Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect about you when you use the NEO app and this website, how we use it, and the choices you have. If you have any questions, you can contact us at privacy@justgetneo.com.

1. Who we are

NEO is a private social networking app operated by Recuerda OÜ, a company incorporated in Estonia (“we”, “us”).

2. Information we collect

We collect three main kinds of information:

2.1 Information you provide

  • Account details – phone number, profile information, and profile image. We do not require your real name to create an account.
  • Content – posts you share inside NEO (text, images, other media).
  • Friend connections – who you add as a friend, who you block or remove.
  • Messages to us – when you contact support (email address, message content, and any extra info or screenshots you choose to send).

We do not require a date of birth unless we add an age-based feature and clearly ask for it.

2.2 Information collected automatically

When you use the app or visit our website, we may automatically receive:

  • Device information (model, operating system, app version).
  • Log information (time of access, IP address, basic error and crash data).
  • Basic usage information (which screens you visit, general feature usage).

We currently do not run advertising, so we do not use advertising IDs to show ads. We do not collect GPS-based or other precise geolocation data.

2.3 Information from others

If another user has your phone number in their contacts, we may use that information to help them find you on NEO, where they have given permission to access their contacts. Where contact-based features are used, we will explain this in the app.

3. How we use your information

We use your information to:

  • Create and maintain your account.
  • Let you add and manage friends and see their content.
  • Secure your account (including login verification and fraud prevention).
  • Improve the app and fix bugs (for example, by looking at crash logs and basic usage stats).
  • Respond to your questions and support requests.
  • Comply with legal obligations and protect the security and integrity of NEO.

We do not sell your personal information.

4. How we use your phone number and SMS

Your phone number is central to how NEO works. We use it to create and secure your account, including verifying your identity, sending one-time passwords, and helping you log in safely.

We do not use your phone number or SMS data for advertising, and we do not sell or rent your phone number or SMS data to third parties for their own marketing purposes.

5. Legal bases (if you’re in the EU/UK)

If you are in the European Economic Area or the UK, the legal basis we rely on depends on the type of information and the purpose for which we use it. We generally process your personal data on these legal bases:

  • Performance of a contract – to provide you with the NEO service once you create an account.
  • Legitimate interests – to secure the service, prevent abuse, operate NEO effectively, and improve the app.
  • Legal obligations – where we have to keep or share data to comply with the law.

6. How we share information

We may share your information with:

  • Service providers who help us run NEO (for example, hosting, analytics, messaging providers). They only process your data on our instructions.
  • Professional advisers such as lawyers or accountants, where needed.
  • Authorities or third parties where we are required to do so by law, or where it is necessary to protect people’s safety, our rights, or to investigate abuse or fraud.
  • In the event of a merger, acquisition, or other corporate transaction, your information may be transferred as part of that deal; if that happens, we will take steps to ensure it continues to be protected.

We do not allow third parties to use your NEO data for their own advertising purposes.

7. How long we keep information

We keep your information for as long as necessary to:

  • Provide you with the NEO service.
  • Meet legal, accounting, or reporting requirements.
  • Resolve disputes and enforce our agreements.

If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymise your personal information within a reasonable period, unless we are legally required to keep it for longer (for example, to comply with law enforcement requests or to resolve disputes).

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have some or all of the following rights:

  • Access – ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correction – ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Deletion – ask us to delete your data, in certain circumstances.
  • Restriction – ask us to limit how we use your data, in certain circumstances.
  • Objection – object to certain types of processing, such as direct marketing (which we don’t do, but the right still exists).
  • Portability – ask for a copy of your data in a machine-readable format.

To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@justgetneo.com and we’ll respond in accordance with applicable laws. If you are in the EU/UK and are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can also complain to your local data protection authority.

9. Children

NEO is not intended for children under 13, or for anyone below the minimum age required by the laws of their country to use the Service. By using NEO, you confirm that you meet the applicable minimum age requirement. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child below the applicable minimum age, we will take steps to delete that information within a reasonable period. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at privacy@justgetneo.com.

10. International transfers

Our servers and service providers may be located in countries other than your own. Where your personal data is transferred internationally, we take steps to ensure it is protected in accordance with applicable law, including by using appropriate contractual safeguards where required.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the “Last updated” date at the top. If we make material changes, we may notify you in the app, on our website, or by other appropriate means.

Your continued use of NEO after any changes take effect means the updated Privacy Policy will apply to your use of the Service.
